Tuesday afternoon, Papa brought our girls out to play. They thought it would be too cold to swim and so they came without suits, but soon they found the leftover suits and shirts in the back bedroom and they were all swimming and sunbathing.
Here they are dining on hotdogs and hamburgers, followed by leftover apple pie, birthday cake and strawberry shortcake. Then they ate the bananas and snickerdoodles! I think they had a good time; I know Angelo did. He loves to swim with them out to the dock and have them drag him onto the dock until it's time to swim back!
The hot shower on our deck comes in handy, too, after all that cold bay water!
But, I forgot to tell you about Saturday, the 5th. Veronica bought a new water heater (see the Zombieprincess blog) and Tom went over to do the installation. Things didn't go totally smoothly but not bad and we finished in 3 hours. Hot water was had by all, including the Gold-ens who were probably vvvveeeerrrrryyyy appreciative after two long days!
And then there was Sunday, we just HAD to go blackberry picking!! Tom was sure they were all going to waste! But there were very few ripe ones and we just got a quart between the five of us. More picking soon!
And that gave us Monday for sleeping a lot, laundry and gardening. It was a lovely day to ourselves.
Tuesday the girls were out and we really enjoyed their company. Maddy and Megan stayed the night. Chelsea went home. Chloe and MJ also went home so they could clean house in anticipation of their dad's return home on Saturday and also so they could pack and prepare for their vacation on Salt Spring Island. The Eugene people will be heading back up for another "blast" of a weekend! It was an honor to meet them and have them join us last weekend for the Fourth.
So, today was Mom's day and we did the usual trip to the lab, Ivar's and the grocery store. Maybe next week we'll think of something interesting to do like a trip to Leavenworth!
PACE!
